Role cards

How the role play works

1. Find your room below and agree who is Person A, B and C.
2. Each round has three roles. The speaker answers, the Western partner asks, and the observer watches and keeps time.
3. Each round lasts 7 minutes: 4 minutes for the exchange, 2 for the observer's feedback, 1 to swap roles.
4. The Western partner opens with the question on the card, then uses the follow-up questions. Only the Western partner opens them.

Observer checklist

• Did the speaker acknowledge the real problem before reframing?
• Did they challenge the premise or the conclusion, and not only the facts?
• Was every fact accurate, and could they name the source?
• Did they adapt the argument to this partner?
• Did they stay calm and avoid sounding defensive?

Give feedback in this order: one thing that worked, one thing to change, the line worth keeping.
